Youth Lessons (Ages 6 months - 8 years)                                                                          

Parent & Tot (8 per class) For ages 6 - 36 months
Parents are taught techniques and positions to enhance their child's comfort level in the water. Basics include water adjustment, body positions, and breath control. This program is NOT designed to teach children to be accomplished swimmers.

Level I: Water Discovery (4 per class) For ages 3 - 8
Objective: Learning elementary skills and helping students feel comfortable in the water. Includes breath control, fully submerging head, supported floating and kicking on front and back, and becoming familiar with alternating arm action.
Prerequisite: Must be able to sit on steps without parent.

Level II: Primary Skills (4 per class) For ages 3 - 8
Objective: Teaches basic freestyle and backstroke swimming skills including kicking, floating, gliding, and armstrokes. Introduces rhythmic breathing.
Prerequisite: Must be able to show full submersion.

Level III: Stroke Modification (4 per class) For ages 3 - 8
Objective: Teaches coordination of basic freestyle and backstroke, jumping into deep water, bobbing as a form of locomotion. Introduces diving and reversing direction while swimming.
Prerequisite: Unsupported back and front float. Demonstration of a flutter kick and standing rhythmic breathing.

Level IV: Stroke Enhancement (6 per class) For ages 4 - 8
Objective: Develop coordination of freestyle and backstroke skills. Teaches basic breaststroke kick and sculling motion. Introduces side breathing (rotary breathing) and turning at wall.
Prerequisite: Ability to swim a minimum of 10 yards freestyle and backstroke, front and back push-offs, and 10 yards of unsupported flutter kick.

Level V: Stroke Refinement (8 per class) For ages 5 - 8
Objective: Teaches breaststroke arm action, butterfly kick, open turns, and alternate breathing for freestyle. Continued development of coordination of the arm, leg, and breathing action in freestyle and backstroke.
Prerequisite: Demonstrate 25 yards backstroke, 25 yards freestyle with side breathing. Demonstrate 10 yards breaststroke kick with a board. Dive from standing position.

Annual Registration Fee

  • Homeowner/Residents $10.00 ($5.00 for each additional child)
  • Non-Residents $15.00 ($7.50 for each additional child)
